Best Betting Position In Texas Holdem

Position in poker refers to the order in which players are seated around the table and the related poker strategy implications. Players who act first are in 'early position'; players who act later are in 'late position'; players who act in between are in 'middle position'.[1] A player 'has position' on opponents acting before him and is 'out of position' to opponents acting after him.[2] Because players act in clockwise order, a player 'has position' on opponents seated to his right, except when the opponent has the button and certain cases in the first betting round of games with blinds.

Position in Texas hold 'em[edit]

A standard Texas hold 'em game with blinds

The primary advantage held by a player in late position is that he will have more information with which to make better decisions than players in early position, who will have to act first, without the benefit of this extra information. This advantage has led to many players in heads-up play raising on the button with an extremely wide range of hands because of this positional advantage.[3] Also, as earlier opponents fold, the probability of a hand being the best goes up as the number of opponents goes down.

The blinds are the least desirable position because a player is forced to contribute to the pot and they must act first on all betting rounds after the flop. Although the big blind has a big advantage on the first round of betting, it is on average the biggest money losing position.[citation needed]

Texas hold 'em example[edit]

Position refers to the order in which you act in a poker game. Your position in the betting order is critically important in Texas hold’em, and more important in no-limit than in fixed-limit or pot-limit games. By acting after your opponents, you have some critical information about the real or purported strength of their hands, while they. Your table position, your stack size, and your opponents will change, but there are only 169 possible starting hands in Texas holdem. Most Texas holdem players know that pocket aces and kings are profitable to play in the long run, and hands like seven two off suit aren’t profitable. But what do you know about pocket sevens?

There are 10 players playing $4/$8 fixed limit. Alice pays the $2 small blind. Bob pays the $4 big blind. Carol is under the gun (first to act). If Carol has a hand like K♥ J♠, she may choose to fold. With 9 opponents remaining to act, there is approximately a 40% chance that at least one of them will have a better hand than Carol's like A-A, K-K, Q-Q, J-J, A-K, A-Q, A-J or K-Q. And even if no one does, seven of them (all but the two players in the blind) will have position on Carol in the next three betting rounds.

Now instead, suppose David in the cut-off position (to the right of the button) has the same K♥ J♠ and all players fold to him. In this situation, there are only three opponents left to act, so the odds that one of them has a better hand are considerably less (only around 16%). Secondly, two of those three (Alice and Bob) will be out of position to David on later betting rounds. A common play would be for David to raise and hope that the button (the only player who has position on David) folds. David's raise might simply steal the blinds if they don't have playable hands, but if they do play, David will be in good shape to take advantage of his position in later betting rounds.

What Is Bitcoin Texas Hold’em?

Bitcoin Texas Hold’em is simply a Texas Hold’em poker game played with Bitcoin. In other words, the rules are still the same and the gameplay does not differ. However, bets are placed as Bitcoin (BTC), not USD or EUR. Since BTC is a high-valued currency, the bet amounts are a bit different than the usual: it is possible to see amounts like “0.00001 BTC”. In any case, the biggest difference when compared to the classic Texas Hold’em is the use of BTC as currency.

In addition, there are some advantages due to the characteristics of Bitcoin technology. These advantages do not affect the game but make gambling experience more enjoyable. Below, you can read about these benefits.

How Does Bitcoin Texas Hold’em Work?

The biggest advantage of Bitcoin Texas Hold’em is that there is no doubt about fairness. In a game against real players, the dealer can make a mistake or try to cheat. In games you play against the computer, you can never be sure that the cards are truly random. Bitcoin Texas Hold’em does not have these disadvantages. Thanks to the provably fair feature, it is possible to see how fair the cards really are. Simply put, the result of the dealing is predetermined, and this data is stored on the player’s computer in an encrypted form. Once the dealing is complete, it is possible to see if the results were really random by checking this data. The provably fair feature is the best thing that has come to poker since Texas Hold’em rules: It offers you a truly fair gambling experience.

But this is not the only advantage of Bitcoin Texas Hold’em. Just like any other game with Bitcoin support, it is possible to play this game anonymously and unrestricted. Having problems with finding an online casino that accepts you? Do not worry, Bitcoin Texas Hold’em games are not subject to geographical restrictions. Moreover, to play this game, you do not need to share your credentials: An e-mail address is enough to start playing.

Finally, Bitcoin Texas Hold’em is unrivaled in terms of deposit and withdrawal speed. It may take days for you to withdraw your winnings in a classic online casino. Bitcoin Texas Hold’em winnings, on the other hand, can be withdrawn to your wallet within minutes. Moreover, you don’t need to pay any fees. In short, Bitcoin Texas Hold’em is the best choice for both casual and professional poker players.

Rules of Bitcoin Texas Hold’em

Bitcoin Texas Hold’em rules are not different at all. As mentioned above, you still play the same game: Only your currency has changed and you also get the advantages listed above. So you do not have to re-learn the rules of the game. Speaking of rules, here they are:

Texas Hold’em is a community poker variant. In general, the goal is to create a poker hand with the highest possible rank using the cards on the table and the hand.

The game is usually played between 4 players. One of the players is selected as the dealer. The dealer changes at the end of each round. Unlike other poker variants, players place their bets before the cards are dealt. These are called “blind bets”. The size of these bets will also determine the betting limits of the table. In professional tournaments, blind bet amounts can go up to thousands of dollars.

After each player places a blind bet, the cards are dealt. Each player gets 2 cards at the start. These are called “hole cards”. After that, the pre-flop betting phase begins. At this stage, players have to choose one of the following options according to their hands:

  • Call: Match the amount of the blind bet on the table.
  • Fold: Forfeit the round.
  • Raise: Double the amount of the blind bet on the table.

In the next stage, 4 cards are placed on the table. 3 of these cards are visible, 1 of them is closed. The players try to determine the combinations they can make with the cards on the table and in their hand. The next stage is known as “flop betting”. The players increase the amount of the pot on the table by choosing one of the options explained above or leave the game. After the flop betting phase is completed, the dealer turns over the single card on the table and starts the third betting round. The player’s options are the same: Call, raise, or fold.

After this betting round is completed, there are usually very few players left on the table. Now the fourth and last stage of the game begins: River. The dealer places two more cards on the table, one closed, one open. Players can still raise, fold, or call the bet. No more cards will be dealt from now on, and after this stage, the player with the highest ranked cards will win the game. The card hierarchy does not differ. The ranking is still Royal Flush, Straight Flush, 4 of a Kind, Full House, Flush, Straight, 3 of a Kind, 2 Pairs, 1 Pair, and High Card.

Top Strategies for Bitcoin Texas Hold’em

Texas Hold’em is a very dynamic game, so there is no strategy you can follow step by step. You must change the tactics that you use according to the course of the game. However, we can give some general recommendations:

Texas Holdem Betting Strategy Chart

  • Play Aggressive. Do not hesitate to raise the bet. Beginners often use the call option more than necessary. However, an aggressive game style can provide you more profit in the long run.
  • Some Combinations Are Not That Good. Usually, the beginners are overjoyed when they get the Ace-Jack combination and immediately raise the bet, thinking that they can’t be beaten. However, this combination is not so good: There are 6 other combinations that are more valuable.
  • Being Last Is Better. Your position at the table also determines the playing order. Being the last player is advantageous because you will see what other players are doing. This advantage will give you a better idea of which betting options you should choose.

The last advice we can give is always to choose games that are provably fair. So you can focus on the game and get rid of worrying about whether the cards are fair or not.
